Syllabus
Dialogue is one of the hardest things to write and it can make or break your novel. So how do you make it sound like real dialogue? What’s the difference between a dialogue tag and an action tag, and how do you use them effectively and punctuate them correctly? How can you slip clues into dialogue that both the characters and readers don’t really notice until all is revealed? Is there a difference between how men and women talk? What is shop talk, and is there a difference between what an FBI agent says versus someone in the CIA? How can you use all this to make your dialogue more realistic?

Writing great dialogue is not difficult, if you pay attention to a few simple rules and use a few simple techniques to make your dialogue seem more like real life. In this class, you will learn the secrets, do(s) and don’s(s), and the tricks and technique to writing dialogue that can strengthen your plot, give depth to your characters, and make your writing stronger.
