Editing The Heck Out Of Things: Intensive 4-Week Polishing, Rewriting, Deleting, And Generally Improving The Draft For Submission
Instructor: Beth Daniels. Many have proven that they can write the first draft of a book in a month, or a bit over if the word count is 90,000 words or better. But the thing that can really drag on for months and months and months, even a year, is the editing. So often we never reach the stage where the manuscript can be submitted to an editor, and continue to spin our wheels reworking it. The reasons are many, of course, but the most common are 1) because we’re continually tinkering with it, we tend to ruin it more ... {more info}

Instructor: Billie WIlliams. There's nothing worse than bland-as-oatmeal writing that doesn't evoke passion, laughter, anger, love…some kind of emotion from your reader. Story tellers who don't elicit emotion won't gain an avid readership. It's that simple. If you've struggled, wondering how you can get your writing to sparkle like a new penny, or a just cleaned window, learn to see everything as a metaphor for your writing. What is Point of View? (Includes Deep POV)
Instructor: Terry Odell. What is Point of View? Simply, it's who's telling the story in any given scene. It's the character through whose senses the reader experiences what's going on. There are no 'rights' or 'wrongs' but choosing the wrong POV can keep the reader from being drawn into the story. It's also a major reason agents and editors reject manuscripts. Readers need to bond with character, and POV is one tool the writer uses to develop that connection. This workshop will also focus on using Deep POV. Participa... {more info}
