| Writing in the Active Voice | |
Instructor: Misa Ramirez. Active Voice means Showing versus Telling. It has everything to do with keeping the reader engaged and part of the action versus one step removed. In a nutshell, the passive voice places the character away from the action rather than placing him/her in the thick of the action. Strong and powerful verbs are the key.
In this class, we’ll generate a list of powerful, active verbs, will practice transforming passive passages to active voice, and will apply the concepts of active voice to passages in your own writing.
