| 3 Secrets to Creating Dynamic Dialogue | |
Instructor: Barbara Plum. We all talk. From a very early age. Every day. Many times a day. Maybe in our sleep. Ergo, we obviously write dynamic dialogue, right? Or maybe not . . . unless we use the three secrets to deepen dialogue.
Body language, vocal cues and subtext are powerful techniques to amp up what characters speak or often don?t say out loud. Learn how these three secrets open up richer levels of dialogue such as: lying, avoidance, humor, and buried truths. Use these three secrets to ratchet up dialogue, making stories more compelling, more surprising, more fun and more satisfying.
Not to mention more sexy.
A broad range of published and unpublished examples will reinforce the concepts presented. Participants should expect to submit samples for each technique—since the skill to do is in the doing. Down with bland, on-the-nose, boring talk. Up with Dynamic Dialogue through practice, practice, practice.

| INSTRUCTOR:
 | Barbara Plum taught 19th Century American Lit to adolescent boys and quickly learned the importance of body language, vocal cues and subtext in a closed room with fifteen sophomores commenting on Hawthorne, Twain, James and other greats in monosyllables. She later worked in high tech and honed her fiction skills by developing marketing materials. She is a multi-published author, an awed RITA judge, a tough judge of local RWA contests, a frequent presenter at RWA chapters and an on-line instructor. She currently has two romantic suspense waiting to be ?discovered.?
