The main focus of the class will be on the urban/paranormal fantasy, but anyone interested in writing a fantasy novel is welcome! Over the course of the year, we will cover, in detail, all the craft elements of writing, while working on a draft, moving into the revision process, and ending up with a manuscript that is ready for submission.
Our year of mystery and mayhem begins in January 2011. There will be teams, challenges, word count expectations, chats and skyping, mentoring, and more! This is an interactive class. You will get out of it what you put into it.
This writing-intensive course looks through the lens of Folklore, Religion and Myth to incorporate the timeless motifs, emotional resonance, and powerful impact that myth creates. We discover the echoes in our personal history, literature, scripture, folk-tales, songs and culture.
