Ever have one of those days when it seems like you just can't get to the things you want to because.. oh, I don't know, you suddenly find out you need new brakes on your vehicle--the vehicle you loaned to someone else to borrow for a few days,--OR, your child starts arguing with you over everything, all the little work things you planned at the mundane job just got fubar'ed beyond recognition and set you back on your time schedule, yet again--your child argues with you and ends up fleeing the scene of the argument in a rage of stomping feet, tears, and pre-teen screaming (all because of homework... sigh)... so if you've had one of those days, I gotta ask... when the child slammed that bedroom door shut and the room was bathed in blessed silence, did you think to yourself... ahhhhh, the sweet sounds of blessed silence and then proceed to make yourself a nice spot of hot cocoa? To be enjoyed all by your lonesome in front a rip-roaring toasty as hades fire?

    Been there with a younger sister and watched something similar with my nephews when they were younger. As they say, 'this too shall pass' and the kids tend not to remember these squabbles the next day or the next. Sometimes they don't even remember it a few hours later. Take a few minutes to breath, relax, enjoy the hot chocolate.

    As I told my son the other day when he wanted to play a game of cards... "I know it looks like I'm not doing anything as I stare at the wall, but I am. I'm working on my plot!" He seemed to understand because he left me in peace, sort of. He then tried to talk his brother into playing cards, very loudly, and it escalated into a shouting match. So we played cards. Sigh. My Christmas wish? Peace... or at least, no shouting!

    Thanks, yall, for the words of wisdom! I really appreciate it. Things have gotten better and are continuing to get better... and I even managed to figure out a way to get more than 30 minutes a night of quiet time to write! Can we get a Woot!? LOL.
