I have a rather embarrassing confession to make. I was the most competitive writer in the universe. I got started, selling my first short story at age 15 (for five times my monthly pocket money) because I read the short stories in a magazine, read how much that ‘crap’ made their authors, and decided, “hell, if they can do it, so can I.”

For several days now, I've been spellbound by Burn Notice. For those who know the show, I bet you guys are/were the same. For those that don't, go and buy at least season one. Especially if you're a writer. In fact, Burn Notice teaches you an awful lot about how to be a good writer.
