My name is Teresa D. Jones and I write under the pen name T.D. Jones. It was just a few years ago when I was just like youÖdreaming of being a published author. Iím on my seventh book and have learned a lot of things along the way and still learning.
For as long as I can remember Iíve wanted to be a writer and would read anything I could get my hands on about writing and there are some great ones out there, but I was always looking for that one book that was more on a personal side and not so much the rules. Iím not fond of rules when it comes to creativity, rules can put people in boxes and their afraid to come out and show their true selves.
Itís Only Words will not teach you where you should put commas or what a verb is, or how you shouldnít start a sentence with a word ending in ing (I still havenít figure that one out). You wonít learn any grammar rules from this book. Sorry, thatís something you will have to learn from someone else braver than me. This class will not teach you how to write a book in a certain time frame, I think that would be putting pressure on you and I want you to be relaxed and enjoy this new adventure you are going on.
I want to teach a class that shows you that your dreams can come true if you work hard and believe in yourself. I want you to understand that everyone has a story in them and itís what you do with it that can change your life to becoming a published author.
So I bet by now you are asking then what will I learn out of this class? Throughout the chapters you will create a story and while you are writing your story, I will be giving you feedback the whole time. You will see how easy it is to take a few words and make something out of them. You will learn to use the creative side of your brain and not so much the editor/critic side. To help you get into the habit of working this side of your brain there will be assignments at the end of each class to do. Okay, stop stressing outÖyou canít fail these assignments. They are just there to help you get in the habit of writing and thinking like a writer. Itís time to wake up this side of the brain because you are getting ready to put it to work if you really want to be a published writer.
When you are finished with this class you should be able to call yourself a writer and take something as simple as seeing a monkey sitting in the front seat of your car and create a story around him and know that you have the skills to make it a novel. If you canít do that then you have my permission to e-mail me (which I will give at the end of this class) and we will figure out why that monkeyís in your car together.
Itíll be all up to you and your hard work how far you take your creation.
So enough talk, letís get started helping you become a published author!
Come join me at my workshop called ďItís Only WordsĒ (Taking your story and turning it into a published novel on April 1st thru to the 28th.
