I know, I know -- be careful what you wish for. "The light at the end of the tunnel is the light of the oncoming train" (or words to that effect).
BUT -- there may be a light at the end of February's tunnel. I swear, it's been the longest month. Each week has presented enormous challenges. A funeral, a root canal, unpleasant legal hassles ... will this month never end?
However, there was a bright spot in the month. I reviewed a book I wrote several months ago now that it's fresh again. That's how I do it, I let it sit for months then I re-read it and am always surprised that, hey, I wrote it, and it's not that bad. There are a few tweaks here and there, but overall, yeah, I'm happy with it. I am sending it off to my formatter for prep to be released in March.
And a double-bright-spot. I reviewed a book I wrote YEARS ago, and you know -- it wasn't that bad. Oh, I had to pare it down and fix some spots, but I sent that one off to my editor after an intense two weeks of work on it. Fingers crossed it gets taken. I like those characters and would love to have them find a home.
That will give me 2 books out this year (if one gets accepted). I have one out with my beta reader, so that will give me 3. I have one that is ALMOST done, another that is started. That's part of a 3-book series which I would LOVE to release this year.
You know ... now that I look at it, not bad. Not bad at all for 2 months into the year.
Sometimes that's all it takes, is a little perspective on things, and all of a sudden --- why, yes, that is a bright light, isn't it?
