Have you ever had someone ask you for a blurb about your story? An editor or agent perhaps? What the heck is a blurb? According to Wikipedia itís a short summary or words of praise accompanying a creative work. Hmph. That really doesnít tell you anything. Not if you want to come up with a blurb for your story. A blurbís function is to entice the reader to buy the book. Whether thatís the editor or agent youíre submitting to or the reader at the bookstore who pulls your book off the shelf. Now when you get published your publisher will almost always write the blurb for you. Whether your editor does it or a copywriter does it. But for you aspiring authors out there the blurb can be a powerful marketing tool. Just like the logline, it should excite the reader into wanting to know more.
