Tip #1 - Don't write book #2 in the series unless you have a contract for book #1. Sure you can do an overview and a few chapters, but don't waste your time writing the entire book just in case you may not sell the first book in the series. That's the advice I heard yesterday, and I'm thinking this is a good idea. (Meaning, don't put all your eggs in the same basket).

Write something else.
