Ahh true, Fearless Leader! and I am back at it... :-)
Dude... who voted me in as El Capitan? I seem to remember a team meeting that included everyone except for ME. But yes, shiny new ideas and bright yellow orb making a miraculous reappearance, causing mass foliage explosion... all fantabulous excuses. Don't keep 'em up. There's always July! LOL
yes, yes! tomorrow! Chris is back on the plane and heading to....somewhere....lol
Don't make me pull out the Fishy Bat of Doom. . . . . Get back to work!
lol. Every year at this time I have to hear that song! I've managed to pile my little noise maker up with so many summer chores that he tiptoes around me now. Afraid I'll add something else to his list. HAH! Good luck with yours.
Leslie, I just bought Alice Cooper's song "School's Out for Summer" from iTunes. Plan to play it on the way home today. Hubby just wrote and asked if I could pick up a light fixture "on the way" to picking up the girls today -- who get out half an hour earlier. Ugh! Doesn't he know it's my LAST writing day (with no kids)? ;-)
I am a big fan of hiring a cleaning service. It's really not that expensive if you only do it once in a while. I get so much from having my house cleaned so I can focus on other stuff that I alone have to do. Like pull the weeds, sure you could hire a landscape service, but I know that cost way more than a house cleaning. Good luck taming those weeds. I call that delegating.
As I understand it the heat of the love scenes can be foretold by the cover as well. If the folks are wearing clothes - inspirational; partly out of their clothes - PG to R; mostly out of their clothes - R; and lacking clothes - XXX. Romantic-suspense always have a couple running somewhere on the cover, too. We do buy books by the cover...it's why we cringe over some of the ones they give us! Thanks, Leslie! How about a Spring Cleaning day that involves the WHOLE family? Even small children can pull weeds. I admit though that I proudly boast the title homemaker/erotic writer, so to some degree I am close to achieving balance. But even when you get to this point, you won't please everyone. I have a pretty good schedule that works for me, but my husband is not happy because I stack the dinner dishes by the sink and do them the first thing next morning after I drop our daughter at school. But I refuse to budge on this one. At some point the answer...Well, do it yourself if it is so important...has to come into play. I use it judiciously.
Wait, wait....writing won't make money.....Nooooo....LOL. I refuse to believe that. I belive we will all be published and make money. Maybe not on the JK Rowling private jet class but a respectable I no longer feel like a drain on the household economy class!
Oh boy... I understand this too well!! My house is in a perpetual state of disaster (not disarray--that would be too big an understatement) and I can't figure out why everything is a mess when I spend most of my time writing/editing. Luckily my husband understands. I may point out that procrastination and prioritization are remarkably similar "P" words if he ever brings it up. I think I'm prioritizing! Doing the dishes doesn't have near the moneymaking potential... LOL (Yes, I am aware that writing won't make me any money. Allow me my delusions!)

Wow. Um, I have a crit partner writing a very similar story to this... I kid you not.
1. It's my outlet. Writing helps me clear the muck from my brain (there's A LOT of muck hence my WIP problem :P ) 2. The people. I've met some fantastic people through the writing community. I'm a bit shy around those I don;t know well, but with other writers? I feel like I can be me. 3. I feel smarter. I'm always learning new words. 4. My writing has given me a sense of accomplishment and confidence. That feeling of finishing a first draft is unequal to anything I can think of. 5. Doing what I love. What more could someone ask for? Great post Leslie! Jus
