My local chapter of Romance Writers of America, Inc.® (http://www.rwanational.org/) known as the Capital Region Chapter is based in Upstate New York, just East of Albany. Our members live in Western Massachusetts, Central and Northern New York and the mid-Hudson Valley.

Our annual conference is being held in Troy, New York, on June 11-12, 2010, and will feature a "Q&A" with four top editors and agents on June 11th, and then workshops by authors Jenna Petersen and Caridad Pineiro, on June 12th. The conference will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 235 Hoosick Street, Troy, New York 12180.

The conference entitled "Building a Better Novel: A Writer's Tool Kit" will also include an opportunity to set up individual 'pitch' appointments with the following editors and agents: Lindsey Faber, Managing Editor for Samhain Publishing; Keyren Gerlach, Associate Editor from Harlequin/Silhouette; Miriam Kriss, Literary Agent for Irene Goodman Literary Agency; and Pam Strickler, Literary Agent from Pam Strickler Author Management.

On Saturday morning, Jenna Petersen, will present two workshops on 'how to write like a writer even if you can't write full time' and 'industry issues presented once you've finished your book'. After lunch, Caridad Pineiro, will present two workshops on 'effective dialogue' and 'world building'.

There will also be a 'meet and greet' and a book signing with the authors after the workshops. I'm unable to attach the conference brochure and registration information to this posting due to size limitations :(.

For members of CR-RWA registration is $85.00 and for non-members $95.00. Hotel accomodations for the conference are at a special conference rate of $99.00/night.

For more information, feel free to contact me, or our chapter website at www.cr-rwa.org. (http://www.cr-rwa.org.)

Thanks

I'd go, but I already signed up for the Long Island Romance Writers Annual Luncheon on June 11. Maybe next year. My parents are orginally from Schenectady and Albany.

That is so weird and funny. LOL The more friends I make on the various author/writer websites, the more people I find that I have common ties with. Do you have any family that still lives up in this area? If you do, the next time you come up this way, we should see if we can meet up for lunch or something..

Awwwwww man!

I wanna go to New York!

RATS, RATS, and double RATS! I'll even throw in a few hamsters as well...

For the past three years, I have faithfully gone to New York City for a soap opera convention (ATWT) - and this year, because of the move and the money, I couldn't make it. (It was last weekend -- and I got to see all the pictures of all my friends at what will be the last get together, because the soap is going off the air in September.) Worst of all, I missed meeting my pals I've talked to everyday since 2007 from England, France, and the Netherlands (since this was their last chance to meet the actors, our message board pooled together to raise money to help aide them in their flight over.)

(Again, I say SOB!) (Sniff) - Oh, don't cry for me, Argentina! (*flails)

It would have been such a trip to traipse on over to NY state, - go to the workshop, harass Kris and her kitties, then spend a few days in the Big Apple with my fanboys...

(Sigh. Now I'm depressing myself! Nothing more pathetic than a bi-polar swinging writer in the middle of a move!)

Harrison, my friend *air kisses* about you not being able to attend the convention last week. I've never been to one :-(

But to brighten your day guess what - I told you or it's in my bio somewhere, that I work part-time job with Jey Associates, which is a PR/Marketing firm in LA. I'm the senior staff writer who writes the press releases for our clients - most are celebs... I get to vicariously live through them Ah!!!! Guess who is one of our biggest clients- drum roll please... JON LINDSTROM!!!! The new and might I say, improved Craig Montgomery no less, from ATWT. I haven't met him yet - but there is a slight possibility I will this summer at one of his movie premieres which MOI did the press release for. Can't disclose more than that because the release isn't out yet.
