I am a paying member of the site, and paid for the workshop "Edge of your seat: how to add suspense to your writing." When I go to "My Events" and click on the workshop, I get the below message. I don't want to sign up again, I just paid my dues about 2 months ago. How do I get past this? The workshop starts today! thanks.

Jen, you're all setup now. We used a new program to assign workshop access and it toggled off a field it shouldn't have. Please let me know if you still don't have access.

I can't access mine either and I'm a paid member and it's a paid workshop. I have to say since the website redesign, I've had several problems that didn't exist with the old website. But for now, it would be nice to be able to access something I paid for.

Liz, it's working now, thanks.
I agree with aef4now, the new website isn't exactly user friendly. For one thing, there needs to be a link to "My Events" on every page. I have a hard time stumbling through various pages until I can find that link, since it's not in an easy to find location. The site also seems to be pretty slow.

I agree with Jen - the My Events link should be more visible. Also, for some reason every time I click on it today - it takes me to my events, but clicking on those links boots me out of the system and I have to log in again. And then still can't get past the My Events link.

Try your My Events links now. They should be working fine. I stupidly thought I'd take some weight off of our workshop coordinator and automate the workshop login process... it didn't go well as I inadvertantly put people in the wrong workshops. I'm working as fast as I can to correct the error and most people have access correctly now. Thank you for being patient.
Regarding the My Events link, it's on every page inside the Community - which is the only members-only area of the website. Can you not see it on every page there next to your My Profile and My Pennames?

The site zips along just fine for me and my writing partners. Any chance your internet connection is wonky, Jen?
Also, My Events is already on every page. I see it next to my name, pennames, profile, settings, etc near the top right.

Liz,
I think I wasn't clear on my issue. I am a member. The My Events page takes me to My Events. But when I click on my currently running, paid for, workshop (and today's the last day of the workshop), I keep getting booted off the site - back to the sign in page and showing that I've logged off. And like Jen (and unlike Heather) for some reason today only, the site is incredibly slow in loading each page.

Ahh. Now that makes sense. You're referring to a workshop in the old site. I had to take down the old site on Saturday at midnight to transition the new site in completely. I had planned to have all of the old site's workshop information loaded up this morning, but my big foot in my mouth error on workshop registrations today has me behind schedule. It will go up today though, so sorry for the inconvenience! Regarding speed just today, it might be a tad slower today b/c I had to dump the site cache to clear up my snafu. As soon as the cache refills again the site should pick up speed. Hope that helps explain things a bit better... now back to fix my ever-lovin-slam-head-on-desk-registration-mistake. We're all entitled one, right? lol

That makes sense now. Glad you're doing the tech. These are the types of problems that make me want to throw my computer out the window (or at the very least, eat a whole bag of M&M's). :-) Good luck on getting it all fixed and I'll check back in on the workshop at the end of the day.

Thank you all for being so patient! As many of you know, I accidentally assigned the wrong workshop to your registration which resulted in most people not having access this morning. The problem has been corrected and everyone should be able to get into their workshops now. The instructors are aware of the issue and we're working with them to make sure no one misses any instruction time. If anyone still cannot get in, please email me at liz@savvyauthors.com so that I can take a look. Again, thank you for being so understanding!
aef - I'm now going to work at giving you access to the older workshops. I did a little "hack" that should let most people in now. If you don't have access, email me privately and I'll see what I can do. The username and passwords no longer match in the old system for most people and I have to manually update them to get them to work with the new system... Aren't growing pains fun? Hopefully the website speed has picked up now that I'm not dumping caches and rocking ten windows to get everyone in their workshops, too. :)

Hi-
I can't access the Criminal Minds class I registered (and paid) for today. When I click on My Events, the only event listed is another class. Please advise.

I'm a member and I paid for the suspense workshop. Now the site is telling me I'm not a member and therefore can't get in there without joining. I paid the $30 and don't intend to pay again.

I have spent hours today trying to find the bug that wasn't setting up individual "My Events" pages right... and I'm happy to say I found it. Literally ONE LINE OF CODE in thousands. So please, everyone, go check your "My Events" and assure me that indeed I did find the issue. *crossing fingers* Rest assured that we've spoken to the instructors and most are willing to extend their workshops an additional day to cover the issues. Please let me know if anyone is still having issues. Thank you for your patience! ~Liz

Need help! I'm a paid member and it's been asking me to register for a workshop. It's been asking me for an information for free! What's going on in here?

Marilag - I replied to you privately as well earlier, but you registered twice but paid your membership on one account and your workshop fees on the other. I merged your two accounts and sent you a password reset option (since I can't see the passwords). The system is set to automatically send you the registration emails when you keep registering. Simply click the link in the email I sent you and reset your password and you should be in one, unified account. You can email me at liz@savvyauthors.com and I'd be happy to walk you through the new site! :)

Hi mae. I'm the moderator for the questions workshop. I'll run through a few things to try and if those don't work we'll get in touch with Liz.
Make sure you are logged into the site to start
Go to forums and scroll to the bottom of the page and see if you can jump in.
if that doesn't work
Go to my events, its located in the middle set of links to the right of the screen and once there click on the workshop.
if that doesnt work, log out and try again.
if none of those work please let me know by DM on twitter at merlyssacormack or i'll be in the chatroom operating room most of the day or here but the other two are faster :)
