WHO:

Jaye Roycraft began writing in 1997, midway through her career as a police officer for the Milwaukee Police Department in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was over forty when she began both careers. Jaye began her police career as a patrol officer, after which she was transferred to the city jail, where she performed the duties of a matron and wagon driver. She was invited to join a specialized new unit called Street Crimes, where she spent the final years of her career. As a member of Street Crimes, Jaye participated in directed patrol missions, special event security ranging from Summerfest to music concerts, and the more dangerous assignments of assisting the Tac Squad with tactical setups and drug house raids.

Jaye’s career with MPD was an emotional roller coaster, taking her from the highest highs to the worst night of her life. One of her most exciting assignments with Street Crimes was doing plainclothes security with the FBI when Hillary Rodham Clinton came to town to make a speech. Her worst experience came several months after graduating the academy, when one of her classmates was killed by a sniper who was simply looking to kill a cop – any cop. As one of the first officers on the scene that night, it was a horror never to be forgotten.

Jaye started writing in 1997, perhaps as an escape from the realities of the job. Jaye’s first novel was a science fiction romance titled RAINSCAPE with a cop heroine, which was first published in 2001 and just recently re-released in 2009. The IMAGE books, a series of four vampire romances, followed, and her vampires are what Jaye has become best known for. The second book in Jaye’s new series of vampire cop thrillers, HELL’S WARRIOR, is due to be released Summer of 2010, and the long-awaited sequel to RAINSCAPE will be released later in the year.

Jaye now works in the safer field of commercial insurance and lets her characters do the dangerous work. Please visit Jaye’s website at www.jroycraft.com to learn more about her books.
